Ed Mills, a promising baseball player on the verge of stardom, sees his dreams shattered when he becomes a single parent. Five years later, he is a small-town mechanic, trying his best to raise his seven-year-old daughter Abby. Ed reaches out to Abby the only way he knows how - through baseball - and encourages her to an all-boy little league team. Abby, however, prefers ballet lessons and spending time with other little girls, much to Ed's disappointment. In order to let go of the past, he must pursue his own dreams of professional baseball and accept Abby as she is.
