Just as the Farmers’ Security Administration in the United States produced a major photographic essay during the thirties on the plight of farmers to raise public awareness, Voices from the Land reveals, through images by Jurgen Schadeberg, the harsh reality of the lives of many rural farm workers in South Africa.
